Heard someone mention "Freaks and Geeks" at a diner and it hit me how much that show got right
I was sitting at a booth near a group of 30 somethings talking about high school movies and one guy said "Freaks and Geeks" was the only show that actually showed what it was like being a loser in 1980. I watched it again that night after like 10 years. Man, that scene where Sam gets stuck at the dance with the weird girl felt way too real. Anyone else go back and rewatch that show and see it totally different as an adult?

Nah, I actually think it romanticized being a misfit way too much. Real life for most of those kids was way more boring and sad than that show made it look.

Kevin always had a way of making everything sound worse than it was back then too. Yeah, the show had its dramatic moments, but it captured that awkward feeling of just trying to fit in and failing that nobody really talks about in real life.
