Update: That 14-hour core shift in Gary last Tuesday was brutal

The sand binder batch was off, so every mold was crumbling. Anyone else ever have a supplier just send a bad pallet like that?

Man, that sounds awful. We had a whole shipment of bad resin a few months back. The only thing that saved us was pulling a sample from every single bag before it went into the mixer. It added time but caught the problem early. Now our receiving checklist includes a quick set test on a random sample from each pallet. It's a pain but better than a full shift of scrap.

Ugh, I wish I'd thought of that before our last disaster.

That's a solid plan, but random sampling can still miss a bad batch. We test every single bag now.
