Passing 500 clients was supposed to feel like winning but it just felt empty

I mean, is it really that deep though? Hitting 500 clients is obviously a big number but it's still just a number at the end of the day. People hype up these arbitrary milestones like they're gonna make you feel some kind of magical transformation or something (news flash, they never do). You probably just built up this mental picture of what it would be like and reality didn't match the fantasy, which is pretty much how everything in life works. The real question is whether you actually like what you're doing day to day, not whether some random client count makes you feel like you won at business.

Used to be one of those people who thought hitting big numbers would hit different. Not gonna lie, this post actually made me rethink that whole mindset. You're right that the day to day is what really matters, not some random count on a spreadsheet. Kind of wild how we all get caught up in chasing these goals that end up feeling empty once we get there. Might have to start checking in with myself more about whether I actually enjoy the work instead of just watching the numbers go up.
