Debate: That guy who told me to throw leftover chili in my pancake batter - genius or gross?

Someone on here said add leftover chili to pancake batter for a savory breakfast, I tried it and it was surprisingly good but my roommate gagged, so now I'm asking who's actually done this and what happened?

Pancakes with chili worked way better than I expected. I used a thinner batter and added a spoonful of chili right on top before flipping, then let it cook a little longer so the middle wasn't soggy. Topped it with a fried egg and some shredded cheese, and it was solid. Did your roommate try a bite or just judge from across the room?

Did you tell your roommate it's basically a deconstructed cornbread and chili bowl? Because that's my excuse and I'm STICKING to it, even if my last batch came out looking like somebody sneezed into the skillet.
