inThat photo of the Andromeda Galaxy from my backyard last month blew my mind
I mean, "ruined the whole thing" seems a bit dramatic to me. Unless your neighbor's light is some kind of stadium flood, it's usually pretty easy to just wait a few minutes or move a few feet. In my experience, these setups are more forgiving than we give them credit for.

inMy first attempt at 24 hour sous vide short ribs came out more like pot roast than steakhouse quality
Pot roast" is exactly how my first batch turned out too, 137 made em like dry chalk.

inOld timer showed me his hammer collection last spring
Stood there myself once watching a guy test a vintage drill press with a railroad spike, scared the hell out of me but it rang like a bell too. @keith264 asked the right question though, I still wonder what Vern would have said if that head did crack, probably just shrugged and grabbed another one from the pile.

inSpent $60 on a meal prep service and got two sad containers of pasta
Wait, you said "it's just pasta we're talking about here" but that's exactly the point. When I pay $60 for something that's literally just pasta with maybe a few sad pieces of chicken or broccoli thrown in, I expect it to at least be good pasta. Not mushy, sad, half-empty containers that make me feel ripped off every time I open the fridge. And yeah, I know I could have bought a box of Barilla for $2, but the whole reason I tried the service was because I thought it would save me time and mental energy after work. The math didn't work out, and now I'm out $60 plus another $30 on pizza, plus I still had to cook the pizza in the oven. So it wasn't just pasta, it was the whole illusion of being smart with my money that got shattered.

inMy grocery bill was $37 under budget this week because I found a dented can sale and my garden gave me six zucchinis.
@rosek44 yeah totally, made chili from a dented can of beans last week and felt like a king.
