Switched from store-bought beef stock to homemade and saved $12 a week easy

Read somewhere that the collagen from the bones acts like a natural preservative, makes your stews last way longer in the fridge. Definitely noticed less waste since I started doing this myself.

Got told my variable names were bad and it changed how I code

Wait, you actually fell asleep and still came out knowing stuff? That's wild.

Caught myself rewatching my favorite scenes at 1.5x speed and felt like a total fraud

@drew_patel57 so you're saying the boring parts are just filler, but @sarahpatel what about shows where the slow stuff sets up something huge later - are you skipping those too?

Rant: That $600 deep-sky camera I bought was a total dud

...and yeah that sounds like the exact same headache I had with an ASI1600 a while back. I ended up calling ZWO support direct, not email, and just told them flat out the sensor was trash. They asked for some sample frames and a copy of the receipt, then sent me a replacement unit within a week. The new one's been solid for two years now. Might be worth skipping the forum rabbit hole and just hitting them up by phone.

Rant: My venus flytrap disaster in the kitchen window

Wait, do you actually think rainwater is different from distilled water for carnivorous plants? I've been growing these things for 6 years now and I have to disagree a bit. Rainwater from a bucket can pick up all sorts of dust and pollen and even bacteria from your roof or whatever it's sitting in. I lost a bunch of flytraps one summer because I got lazy and left my bucket out too long without cleaning it. Now I just buy distilled from the grocery store for $1 a gallon and call it a day. Once the minerals are gone, the source doesn't matter much.
