My neighbor lectured me about buying store-brand beans and it actually made sense
She said she's been using the No Name black beans for 10 years and saves like $4 a week, but I always grabbed the branded ones out of habit. Now I'm wondering how many other little switches I've been ignoring just because I never questioned it. Anyone else have a food rule they got from someone and it turned out to be totally wrong?

My buddy switched to generic cheese and never looked back, said the taste is basically the same.

I dunno, I've tried the generic stuff a few times and it always tastes a little off to me. Like the texture is different too, more rubbery or something. Your buddy might just not care about cheese that much, which is fine, but I definitely notice the difference. I'm not saying it's bad, just not the same. Maybe it depends on which brand you get, but the price gap isn't that huge for me to switch. I'll stick with the name brand for now.
