Saw a gift shop in Savannah selling 'experience' vouchers instead of stuff
They had these little cards for things like a carriage ride or a cooking class, starting at $40. Honestly, it made me think gifts are moving away from physical objects, but I still love giving something you can unwrap. What do you guys think is better?

Wait, they start at forty bucks? For a piece of paper? That's just the voucher, you still gotta pay for the actual thing, right? I'd feel so cheap handing that over, like here's your homework to go have fun. Give me a real gift any day, something they can actually hold.

Remember my friend who got a pottery class voucher and now has her own ugly mug she loves?

Actually Seth, the voucher usually is the full price for the experience, so you aren't giving them more homework to pay. It's like buying the ticket for them. Kind of like what Jennifer's friend got, the whole pottery class was already paid for with that one card. You're paying for the memory, not just a thing.
