Rant: An architect told me my mullion joints were 'visually heavy' on a storefront job
I was installing a big commercial storefront in Columbus last year, using my usual 1/2 inch structural silicone. The architect came by and said the joints looked 'visually heavy' and broke up the glass line. He pushed for a 1/4 inch bead, arguing it was cleaner. I pushed back, worried about long term strength. We compromised on a 3/8 inch joint with a specific black silicone. It actually looks way better and passed the engineer's review. Has anyone else had a client's aesthetic note make you adjust a technical detail you thought was set in stone?
