Found a photo from my 8th birthday that shows a blue sky, but my memory insists it rained all day.
I was organizing a box of old family pictures in the attic yesterday and pulled out a shot of me blowing out candles with clear sunlight streaming through the window, which completely contradicts my vivid memory of a thunderstorm that canceled our backyard party.

That photo could easily be from a different birthday party. I have a bunch of pictures where the cake and decorations look the same year to year. Your memory of the rain is probably right because bad weather sticks with you, especially when it ruins your plans. The brain holds onto those disappointing moments way more than a regular sunny day. The picture just proves you had a cake indoors, not what the weather was like outside.
