Weekly greasing went from chore to essential for me.

A seized pin cost me a day's work last month.

Forgot to grease once and my pin seized, proving I'm no mechanic, but @elliot625's marine grease idea saved me.

Read an old forum post where a mechanic swore by using a specific marine grease for pins on equipment that sits outside. He said the waterproofing in it stopped that white, chalky corrosion that locks things up. Been using Lucas Red N Tacky on my trailer ramps since I saw that talk, and it really does help.

Hold on now, that stuff is a total mess waiting to happen. That thick grease just acts like a magnet for every bit of grit and sand, making a wicked grinding paste. I've seen pins wear out faster from the abrasion caught in the grease than from any corrosion. On my old plow, I switched to a light fluid film spray on the pins and hit them with the pressure washer regularly. Works way better than any sticky grease that just holds water against the metal.
