I gave my yoga mat a personality after it slid mid-pose.

Now I always check for floor grip before starting my routine.

Was it on a hardwood floor or something slippery? I've seen mats slide on smooth surfaces (it's a common issue). Maybe try a towel underneath for extra grip. That's what I do when I'm on my kitchen tiles.

Ugh that's the worst, when your mat just nopes out mid downward dog lol. My old mat was so bad on hardwood I'd basically surf through my vinyasa flow. Harper's towel trick is solid, I used a big beach towel under mine for months before I finally got a better mat. Still double check the grip every time now though, trust issues with floors forever.

Yeah hardwood is the worst for that, it's like the mat develops a mind of its own. I always tell people to check the bottom of the mat too, some of them get polished smooth and lose all grip. A damp cloth wiped on the floor right before you lay it down can help a ton on slick surfaces. Basically you're fighting the floor's finish more than the mat itself.
