Yelp reviews vs Google reviews for local car repair shops

I spent last weekend comparing Yelp and Google reviews to find a new mechanic in Austin. Google Reviews had way more detail and real stories about prices and wait times. Yelp felt like it was full of people who just wanted to complain about one bad visit. I counted 40 Google reviews for a shop near me with actual repair costs mentioned. Has anyone else noticed Google is just more useful for finding a good local shop?

40 repair costs listed? That's wild, @amybarnes would lose her mind over that data.

That 40 reviews with repair costs is exactly the kind of info I look for - tells you way more than some rant about waiting ten minutes. Google's setup just makes it easier for regular folks to leave helpful notes instead of just venting.

Totally agree on the repair costs thing. That's the REAL data that saves people money. Numbers like that beat a hundred complaints about slow service.
