Tenant's AC unit died in July and I lost a weekend to finding a replacement
Last Tuesday my tenant in a duplex near downtown called saying the AC stopped blowing cold. It was 95 degrees out and I figured it was just a capacitor. Nope, the whole compressor was shot on a unit that was only 5 years old. Ended up spending $2,100 on a new unit and installation because nobody had the parts to fix it. Anyone else had a newer appliance just crap out on them for no good reason?

Read somewhere that modern AC units are built cheaper now so they die faster for some reason.

Yeah "built cheaper" is spot on. My last one died in five years.
