Serious question, has anyone else dealt with a terrible home inspector?

I hired a guy last summer to check out a house I was buying in the Hazeldean area. He spent maybe 45 minutes walking around, said everything looked fine, and I only paid him $350. Three weeks after moving in, I found a massive crack in the foundation behind some drywall he never looked behind. What did that inspector miss in your place, and how did you deal with it?

Oh man, that's rough (though honestly, I've had worse luck with my own DIY projects). My guy missed a leaky pipe behind the washer that caused mold, so now I'm paranoid about every little spot. Ended up having to pay out of pocket to fix it, which totally stung after thinking I'd saved money on the inspection.

Skipping an inspection is just gambling with your money, and it sounds like you lost. DIY projects blowing up is your own fault too, inspections at least give you someone else to sue.
