Stopped buying trash bags after I switched to old pillowcases
I was going through a box of 30 kitchen bags every 5 weeks. Then I tried using old cotton pillowcases for my bedroom trash. They wash fine. One bag every 2 months now. Anybody else tried fabric liners instead of plastic?

I mean @benk26 has a point about the math part of it, but idk, I feel like there's something kind of satisfying about finding a way to use stuff you already have instead of buying more plastic. Like yeah it's not gonna change your budget hugely but it's just one less roll of bags in the landfill.

Sounds like a lot of hassle over saving maybe ten bucks a year.

Benk you're totally right and honestly the more I think about it the more I realize I do the same thing all the time. Last week I spent like two hours driving across town to get a slightly cheaper haircut that saved me maybe six bucks and by the time I factored in gas and parking it was probably a wash anyway. It's like I get so focused on the idea of saving money that I completely ignore how much my time is actually worth to me. Sometimes I catch myself browsing three different stores for a deal on something that costs practically nothing and I'm like why am I doing this to myself. The hassle is real and it's almost never worth it when you add up all the little costs you don't think about upfront.
