inSpent 6 months obsessing over suspension geometry until a guy at Moab Off-Road Park set me straight
Going from coils back to leafs... that's a bold move, hope it works out better than that time I tried to tune my shocks with a calculator and a blindfold.

inA friend's apartment in Portland taught me to freeze scraps first
Wait, but doesn't the sealed ceramic bin still let air in when you open it? I've tried those bins before and they still got gnats after a few days, especially in summer. Freezing scraps is a game changer for me, it totally stops the smell and bugs without having to run the compost out every other day. Plus in Portland the fruit flies are honestly brutal during that warm stretch, so that gallon bag trick feels like a no-brainer once you see how bad it can get. To each their own though, but I'll take the freezer space over a counter full of flies.

inI always thought most hardware failures were from age, but a report from a data center in Phoenix said 78% of drive replacements in their first year were from vibration damage during shipping.
Hard drives are tougher than that" - tell that to my UPS guy

inHot take: I'm done with those 'one size fits all' laptop battery replacement videos
Did you ever try checking if any of those generic cable replacements from China actually fit? I had a similar situation with an old HP where Dell ribbon cables from a parts lot saved me a trip to the electronics recycler. @blairj55's tip about searching the part number is spot on, those tiny numbers on the cable are usually a lifesaver for finding the exact match.

inMy neighbor laughed at my rain barrel idea, then the drought hit
Man, Bob probably felt pretty silly watching those tomatoes turn to dust. People underestimate how much a simple barrel setup can save you when the hose gets shut off or the sky goes dry. Rain barrels aren't magic, but they give you a nice buffer for the garden beds that need water the most. You don't need a huge system either, just one or two barrels under a downspout does the job for a small yard like yours.
