My rear leaf spring bolts needed 250 ft lbs and my $40 torque wrench only went to 150
I was swapping in a set of OME leaf packs on my '04 Tacoma in the driveway when I looked up the spec and saw 250 ft lbs for the rear shackle bolts. My cheap harbor freight wrench tops out at 150, so I ran to my neighbor's place and he lent me a 3/4 drive bar that went to 300, but I was standing on it with both feet before anything clicked. What are you all using for the big stuff like leaf and shackle bolts, do I really need to drop the cash on a decent 250 ft lb wrench or is there a trick I'm missing?
