My brother told me to ignore the early AI art generators back in 2021

Tbh, he said they were just a gimmick and to wait for the tech to mature. I listened and didn't touch them until Midjourney v4 came out. Honestly, I missed out on a whole year of learning the basics and feel like I'm playing catch-up now. Anyone else get similar advice that set them back?

My buddy had the same thing happen with crypto mining. His cousin told him his little setup was a waste of electricity right before everything spiked. He basically missed the boat by listening to that one piece of advice.
