Went to the natural history museum downtown and saw a sign about AI mapping dinosaur migration patterns

They had this whole exhibit on how an AI model tracked where fossils matched across continents from 200 million years ago. Has anyone else seen this kind of stuff used in actual museums, or was my local one just being extra fancy?

That AI stuff is showing up everywhere now. Pretty wild they can track ancient dino paths with it though.

Are we really supposed to be impressed that a computer found footprints in the dirt? I mean, people have been finding dino tracks for centuries with just shovels and good eyes. Seems like we're just adding expensive tech to something that already worked fine. What's next, using AI to tell us the sun is hot?
