Serious question, did anyone's grandma actually preheat the air fryer, or did we all just start doing it because the manual said so?
A coworker in Fresno mentioned her 78 year old mom has been air frying chicken thighs at 380 for 18 minutes straight out of a cold basket since 2019 with zero complaints, and now I'm wondering if the preheat step is just something we all copied from each other without testing.

Did her mom ever try preheating and notice a difference, or has she just never bothered to test it? I'm curious if anyone has actually done a side by side comparison instead of just trusting the manual.
