Showerthought: a $4 can of foot powder saved my butt on a King Air wheel change in Tulsa
Had an inner tube sticking to the tire casing on a King Air 200 in Tulsa last week, and no amount of tire soap would break it loose without me fighting it for 20 minutes. My lead handed me a can of Gold Bond and said dust the tube before you seat it, and it slid in like nothing on the first try. Been turning wrenches 14 years and nobody ever showed me that one. Anybody got other trick of the trade stuff like that, or is it just me who never heard this?
My buddy Dean did an entire brake job on a 182 out at Wiley Post with a tube of ChapStick he found in his flight bag. Swore by it for years after that. Half the tricks in this shop came out of somebody's lunch box.
