Had a false alarm call out at 3 AM because the customer didn't understand the keypad
Last Tuesday I got a call at 2:47 AM from a new customer I'd installed for just two weeks earlier. Drove 20 miles out to find out she'd pressed the panic button thinking it was the disarm key. I spent 15 minutes explaining the layout again but now I always walk through each button function three times before I leave. Has anyone else started laminating a quick reference card to leave by the panel?

So what do you do when that laminated card inevitably gets lost or the customer just tosses it aside? I've tried the card thing but half the time they shove it in a drawer or it falls behind the panel. One old guy told me he preferred the manual because it had bigger pictures, but then he admitted he never actually read it either. Have you tried putting colored stickers right on the keys themselves? I started doing that with panic buttons after a similar 3 AM run, and it seems to stick better because they can't lose a sticker thats literally on the button.
