Almost lost my car to a flash flood near Tramway last monsoon season

I was driving down a dip on Tramway after a sudden storm and water rose up over my hood in seconds, so I threw it in reverse and gunned it back uphill, then sat on the side for 20 minutes watching three other cars get stranded - has anyone else had a close call on that stretch during a downpour?

Wait, did you have time to think about reversing or was it just pure panic mode? I had a similar thing happen near there a few years back, except I didn't have the brains to hit reverse. I just sat there like a deer in headlights as water started creeping up the doors. Eventually some guy in a lifted truck came and pulled me out, but I was literally shaking for an hour after. Now I have a rule: if it's raining hard enough that I can't see the lines on the road, I'm not driving anywhere near that dip. My car is too old and too busted to survive a swim like that.

@claire_butler1 pure instinct kicked in and I hit reverse before my brain could catch up.
