Shoutout to the guy at the Tramway trailhead who said take the lower path instead of the ridge
Hit the La Luz trail early Saturday with two friends and we were about to head up the ridge like always when a guy coming down told us the lower path was in way better shape after the rain. We went back and forth for a minute since we had done the ridge a dozen times, but we took his word and went low. Turned out the ridge had a washed out section near the top that would have sent us sliding, and the lower route was dry the whole way. Saved us probably an hour of sketchy footing and my buddy's knee. Anyone else notice the trails up there are still tore up from that last storm?
Hold on, that washed out section on the ridge was there and nobody put up a sign or anything? People go up that way every single day and one wrong step near the top could really mess someone up. Good thing that guy spoke up, but the forest service needs to get out there and mark that spot before someone gets hurt.
