I scrubbed a $6 thrift store LP with dish soap for 3 months before someone at a Tacoma record swap asked why I was ruining my stylus
Turns out dish soap leaves a film that builds up on the needle, and my copy of Rumours had been sounding bad for months because of it, not because of the record, so what is everyone actually using out there for a proper wet clean?

The guy at the Tacoma swap actually saved you a ton of money, my first stylus got wrecked the same way back in like 2011 and I couldn't figure out why every record I owned started hissing. The thing people always skip in these threads is the drying step, not the cleaner. Whatever you use, distilled water, a spin clean, a vacuum machine, if you let it air dry in a dusty room you're just putting new junk right back in the groove. I use a two step thing now, wash with a mix of distilled water and a tiny bit of isopropyl, then rinse with plain distilled and dry with a microfiber towel I keep in a ziplock bag so it doesn't pick up lint. Also worth checking your stylus under a cheap jeweler's loupe, because if the film has been building up you might need to gently clean the needle too before anything sounds right again.
