A guy at my local anime club in Fresno told me to stop watching 12 shows at once, and he was right
I used to keep 12 shows going at the same time and never finished any of them. Last month a guy named Ray at our Fresno meetup said to pick 2 and drop the rest, so I tried it. I finished both in under 3 weeks and remembered way more of what happened in each one. Now my list is down to 4 shows and it feels a lot less like homework. How many shows do you keep going at once before it stops being fun?
Honestly Ray gave you bad advice and you just got lucky that it worked for your brain. Binge culture is fine for some people but keeping a big rotation going is how tons of us actually enjoy the hobby. A 12 show rotation means you always have something for whatever mood hits, comedy when you're tired, action when you're wired, sad stuff when you need a good cry. Cutting down to 2 just turns anime into a chore list where you feel guilty about the shows sitting there waiting. The real problem was never the number, it was that you were watching stuff you didn't even like just to keep the count up. Drop the dead weight instead of the whole system and 12 shows feels great again.
