My neighbor said my bokashi bucket was a science project, so I switched to a sealed tumbler.
He pointed out the faint pickle smell in the hallway last Tuesday, which made me realize my 'no smell' claim was wrong, so has anyone else found a truly airtight method for a 700 square foot place?

Wait, isn't a sealed tumbler just a bigger science project? That pickle smell is the fermentation gases, so no container is truly airtight under pressure.

My old building in Chicago had this same weird pickle smell war. Bethm97 is right, we treat our own compost like a biohazard when it's just some rotting veggies.

Honestly, it's just a compost bin, not a chemical spill. A faint pickle smell in the hall is barely a thing. I feel like we're overthinking this for a small apartment. Maybe just crack a window sometimes instead of chasing a perfect seal.
