Customer told me my Samsung fridge diagnostic was lazy

A guy in Cicero pointed out I was just cycling the main board without checking the evaporator fan first. He showed me how to jump the thermistor to test it directly, and now I catch bad fans on the first trip instead of guessing. It saves me about 45 minutes per call on RF23 models. Anyone else run into a trick like that from a homeowner?

It's funny how often the best tricks come from regular people who just live with the problem every day. They know every quirk and odd noise their appliances make, so they've got a different kind of expertise. Kind of like how my neighbor figured out that his truck's check engine light only goes off if you jiggle the gas cap just right. It's not in the manual, but it works every time. Those little hacks from daily life are usually more practical than what you learn in a class or a book.

A loose gas cap is usually the first thing to check for a check engine light.
