Hit 500 calls this year where the customer had already unplugged the unit, and I'm starting to think that's a bad first step.

Isn't it wild how often we try the same fix that never works? Like rebooting a router ten times or closing an app that's already frozen. People just default to the one trick they know, even when it clearly isn't the solution.

Wait, didn't you used to swear by the same fix over and over too though? I used to be that guy banging on the router or force-quitting my browser like it was gonna magically work the tenth time. But yeah, you got me thinking - it's like our brains just get stuck on that one trick we know, even when it's obviously not helping. Kinda embarrassing when you step back and realize you've been doing the same useless thing for twenty minutes. Now I catch myself and try something different after the second fail.

Oh, "kinda embarrassing" is a bit strong, isn't it? I mean, we've all sat there jamming the power button on a phone that's clearly just dead, it's not like it's some life or death mistake. Your mileage may vary, but I figure a few minutes of stubbornly doing the wrong thing is just part of being human, not something to get worked up about.
