Question about the 25 amp fuse I keep finding blown in old Whirlpool dryers
I was at a parts counter in Bakersfield two weeks ago and the guy behind it told me that thermal fuses on those 1990s Whirlpool dryers blow way more often when the vent run goes past 12 feet. I went home and checked the three I had in the shop, and two of them had crushed vent hose behind the drum, which I never would have guessed. Does anyone else pull the vent hose before ordering a new fuse, or am I overthinking this?
Crushed vent hose behind the drum is the dryer version of a clogged artery, and here we all are just throwing fuses at it like aspirin. Pulling the hose first should be step one, not some wild theory you stumbled into.
