Used to yank ice makers without pulling the fridge, now I refuse
Blew out a water line on a Whirlpool in Baytown about 6 months ago because I was too lazy to slide the unit out, flooded the guy's whole kitchen and ate the repair bill. Now I pull every fridge, shut the saddle valve, and lay down a towel before I even touch the fill tube. Takes 10 extra minutes but I haven't mopped up a floor since. Any of you still doing the reach-around on side-by-sides or did you learn this one the hard way too?
So you flooded one kitchen and now every single fridge job turns into a whole production? Six months is what, like a dozen fridges maybe? Half those lines are fine and you know it. I've been doing the reach-around for years on side by sides and the only time I ever had a problem was when the line was already cracked and brittle before I touched it, which pulling the fridge wouldn't have saved anyway. Seems like you're punishing yourself for one bad day.
