Whirlpool washer drum wobble, fixed after a bracket swap in a hotel laundry

Last month I was doing a callback in a Marriott basement, their Whirlpool duet was shaking like crazy. I pulled the top expecting a counterweight issue, but the spider bracket had hairline cracks on two arms. Took me about 2 hours with a puller and a new bracket, but the drum spun smooth after. Anyone else seen these brackets fail more often on front loaders that run constant hotel cycles?

Actually that bracket issue is more common than you'd think, but it's usually from the drum bearing wearing out first, not just the constant cycles. The spider arm cracks happen when the bearing gets sloppy and the drum starts wobbling side to side, putting stress on the bracket. Check the bearing next time you have it apart, if there's any play in it, the new bracket will crack again within six months. Also, hotels rarely clean the drain pump filter, and that can cause extra vibration over time that beats up the whole front end.
