Back in 2015, I thought the whole 'soil decompaction with an air spade' thing was a gimmick
We had a huge pin oak in a park in Columbus that was really struggling, and the city arborist insisted we try it. I figured it was just moving dirt around, but after we did a grid of holes and backfilled with compost, the tree put on almost 8 inches of new growth the next season. What's something you guys were totally wrong about at first?

Man, that's a great example. It reminds me how often we write off simple fixes because they seem too easy. We expect big problems to need big, complicated solutions. But a lot of times, the real issue is just something basic that got overlooked. Seeing a tree bounce back like that proves the point. It's a good lesson in not judging an idea until you see the results for yourself.

Ever had that happen with a houseplant, @rowan972? Sometimes all they need is a good drink of water and a better spot by the window. It's easy to overthink it.

Totally agree. I once spent a month trying to diagnose a weird noise in my car, buying special tools and everything. Turns out I had a plastic grocery bag stuck to the underside. The fix was literally just pulling it off. Felt like a huge idiot, but it really does show how we skip the obvious stuff.
