Serious question, had a homeowner in the Heights insist I leave a 30-foot stump because it was 'natural habitat'
Tried explaining rot and pest risks for an hour, but they wouldn't budge. Anyone else run into this kind of pushback on a basic removal?

Just let it rot on their dime.

Honestly, that's the best move sometimes. They made the mess, they can deal with the fallout. Saves you a ton of stress just walking away.

Last year I saw a 20 foot stump left for "wildlife" in Bellaire. Two years later the whole yard was infested with carpenter ants and termites had started on the house siding. Phoenix_singh is right, let it rot on their dime. The bill for pest control and foundation repairs will make that removal quote look cheap. Some people only learn the hard way.
