Was that strap really close to going? Sometimes those look worse than they are and could've held for months.

Man, my buddy ignored a frayed ratchet strap on his truck bed last year. It looked rough but he kept saying it had "one more trip" in it. Thing snapped while he was hauling firewood, sounded like a gunshot. His load shifted and dented the tailgate pretty bad. Could have been way worse if it let go on the highway.

I always replace frayed straps immediately to avoid nasty surprises on the road.
