In my experience, a buddy's car got straightened in Greece with a similar jig. It was a bit rough around the edges, but it did the job just fine.

Mine too, honestly. I've found it works best with chicken thighs or drumsticks, the ones with the skin still on. If the skin is wet, it just steams and gets gross. Pat it bone dry with paper towels, then salt it well. The skin renders its own fat and crisps up like it would in a real oven.

Man, my buddy ignored a frayed ratchet strap on his truck bed last year. It looked rough but he kept saying it had "one more trip" in it. Thing snapped while he was hauling firewood, sounded like a gunshot. His load shifted and dented the tailgate pretty bad. Could have been way worse if it let go on the highway.
