My grandma said to salt pasta water like the sea and I ignored her for 10 years
Finally tried it 3 months ago in my little Galveston kitchen and now plain spaghetti tastes like nothing without it, so what other old school tips did I wave off for no good reason?
Salting it like the sea is just overseasoning, and a lot of cooks will tell you it barely gets absorbed anyway since most of it goes down the drain. Grandma's rule worked because you got used to it, not because it's actually right.
