Hot take: my uncle told me to skip Concord and look at Dover instead, and I can't tell if he was right
When I was house hunting in 2022 I had my heart set on Concord. My uncle has lived in the state since the 80s and told me flat out, get a place in Dover instead, you get more house for the money and the drive to the seacoast is nothing.
So I did it. Bought a 3 bed in Dover for $340k when the same money in Concord got me a 2 bed that needed a new roof. Two winters in and I'm still not sure who won the argument.
What I like is real. But the tradeoffs are real too. My commute is longer, and I miss how easy Concord made everything. My uncle says I just need to give it 5 years.
So who's actually right here? People who picked Dover over Concord, or the other way around. What made you decide.
Ha, your uncle got you good with the "give it 5 years" line, that's the classic move when nobody actually knows. Here's the thing though, you got a 3 bed with no roof problems for the same money, so unless Concord was saving you like two hours a day in the car, you probably came out ahead. I'd say stop keeping score and just enjoy the extra bedroom.
