I keep seeing people ask questions that are way too broad

I mean, stuff like 'how do I get better at coding' is impossible to answer well. It matters because you just get generic advice that doesn't help. Anyone have a trick for narrowing down a huge question into something specific?

Oh man, it's like asking "how do I get good at life?"... good luck with that. Maybe they should try "how do I fix this one error message" instead.

Yeah but sometimes those big vague questions are the only way people know how to start. Not everyone knows how to break things down yet. It's easy to poke fun, but they're probably just stuck and asking the only way they know how. Getting good at the small stuff comes later.

My friend tried to learn coding by asking "how do I make a video game" and just got overwhelmed. He finally asked about a specific sprite that wouldn't move right, and that tiny fix taught him more in an hour than weeks of big questions.
