My $60 basement dehumidifier is keeping my garage gym at 48% humidity now

Got one of those cheap units off Amazon last month for my basement setup in Louisville. I was skeptical since my old one would frost up and die every winter. This one has a drain hose running to the floor drain and I set it to 50%. Walked down this morning and my chalk bucket is actually dry for once. The weird part is my back patio door seals better now because the wood frame isn't swelling. Anyone else notice fixing moisture in one spot fixes other random stuff around the house?
