Spent three hours trying to find the right way to ask a question about car repairs online

I needed to fix a squeaky belt on my Honda Civic but every forum I checked had a different rule about where to post. One said 'engine', another said 'maintenance', and a third had a whole 'noise' section. It took me until almost midnight to finally get an answer because I kept posting in the wrong spot. How do you guys figure out where to put your questions in these big 'ask anything' places?

Big 'ask anything' places" are the worst, I used to just pick the first forum that looked right.

How do you even find good ones now? I wasted so much time on those huge sites getting answers from people who clearly didn't know what they were talking about. It feels like you need a map just to find a decent corner of the internet anymore.
