Changed my mind about stacking multiple exposures after chatting with a guy at the observatory

Man, single exposure all the way now. Overlaying frames just kills that raw feel you get from one clean capture of the night sky. Saw a dude at the observatory stacking 12 shots of Orion and it came out looking like a painting - too smooth, no texture left. Keep it simple, let the noise breathe a little.

Dude I totally feel you. Last month I did a 30 second single shot of the Milky Way from my backyard and it had this gritty, real star shine that stacking never gives you. My buddy stacked like 8 frames of the same spot and it came out looking like a plastic toy sky, no life in it at all.
