Finally got my polar alignment dialed in after three freezing nights

My new mount kept drifting, and I realized my tripod leg wasn't perfectly level on my uneven patio. I spent about 8 hours total over three nights just tweaking it with the polar scope app. Anyone have a better method for a really uneven surface?

Ugh, does anything kill the stargazing vibe faster than fighting with a mount for hours? That sounds like a special kind of cold torture. Have you looked into those leveling bases you can add under a tripod? They're basically just a flat plate with adjustable feet, way less fuss than trying to shim a leg on concrete.

My buddy uses a leveling base on his Sky-Watcher mount and swears it cut setup time in half. He just drops it on uneven ground and tweaks three knobs, no more hunting for rocks to shim. Have you found any good brands that work with your gear?

Skip leveling, just drift align (kimg57, it's faster).
