I used to skip the moon in astro photos, now it's my favorite target

For like 2 years I never bothered with moon shots because I figured everyone's seen it, it's boring. Then last November I caught a partial lunar eclipse by accident while setting up my scope for Orion. The detail in those craters with a simple 5-second phone video through the eyepiece totally hooked me. Now I plan whole evenings around moon phases and libration, it's a whole different kind of challenge. Anyone else have a target they wrote off and then fell for hard?

Wow, what made the moon finally click for you like that?

Jumped right into moon photography the same way. @luna_kim40, for me it was realizing I didn't need perfect conditions or expensive gear. That first accidental shot through my cheap eyepiece with an old phone came out so bad it was actually good - like a blurry alien landscape. Now I chase those craters like a kid with a new toy, which is funny because I spent years telling myself the moon was just a big light bulb ruining my deep sky shots. Funny how something can go from annoyance to obsession once you actually stop and look at it properly.
