That photo of the Andromeda Galaxy from my backyard last month blew my mind

I set up my little 6 inch Dobsonian telescope at like 2am last Thursday and took a 30 second exposure with just my phone camera strapped to the eyepiece, and the result actually showed the spiral arms, which I never thought I'd pull off from my light-polluted neighborhood in Denver.

Tried that once but the neighbor's porch light kicked on and ruined the whole thing.

I mean, "ruined the whole thing" seems a bit dramatic to me. Unless your neighbor's light is some kind of stadium flood, it's usually pretty easy to just wait a few minutes or move a few feet. In my experience, these setups are more forgiving than we give them credit for.
