Figured out my sprinkler timer was running at 3am for no reason

I walked outside to grab something from my car last Tuesday around midnight and heard the sprinklers going. Checked the timer and it had been set to run at 3am AND noon every day for two years. No wonder my water bill jumped $40 a month after I moved in. I must have hit a button wrong during setup and never looked again. How do you all keep track of your irrigation schedules without messing them up?

Used to think those timers were foolproof. Totally changed my mind.

Yeah I read something the other day about how those timers can actually wear out or get misaligned over time. Someone online was saying the internal spring mechanism gets loose after a lot of use and it stops being accurate. Makes sense why they're not as reliable as people assume.
