My water heater quit on a Sunday morning in Alpharetta, and the plumber quoted me $1,850
Woke up last Sunday to a cold shower and a puddle spreading across the garage floor in Alpharetta. The tank was 11 years old, so I figured it was done, but the first plumber quoted $1,850 for a basic 50 gallon swap. Got a second guy out who did it for $1,150 with a 6 year warranty, took him about 3 hours. Anyone else see quotes swing that much around here, or did I just get lucky with the second call?

That $1,850 quote probably wasn't just a mark-up, it was weekend pricing since you called Sunday morning and most shops charge extra for that. The second guy may have just been willing to eat the weekend fee to get your business.
