Reversed my stance on HOA after one nasty storm

I used to think our HOA in Lawrenceville was just nitpicky about grass height and fence colors. Then the derecho hit in June and knocked a massive oak limb onto my roof. The board already had a tree service contract lined up, and they cleared debris from every street by Saturday morning. My own insurance adjuster couldn't even get out here until Monday. I still roll my eyes at the paint palette rules, but now I see the value. Has anyone else flip-flopped on their HOA after a big weather event?

So one storm and suddenly the HOA is the hero? Sounds like they did the bare minimum by having a tree guy on speed dial.
