Serious question about those solar panel installers knocking on doors
I've had three different companies come to my house in Marietta this month alone all pushing solar. Every single one of them told me I could get a 'zero down' loan and save big on power bills. But when I asked them to show me the actual math for my specific roof angle and tree coverage, two of them dodged the question. The third one finally admitted my south side gets too much shade from the oaks in my backyard. I'm wondering if anyone else has had these guys give you the hard sell without running real numbers first.

Oh man, the "zero down" part always gets me lol. I had one guy basically camp out on my porch for 20 minutes trying to sell me on solar, then when I asked about my roof pitch he just gave me this blank stare. The third guy you talked to sounds honest though, that's rare. I kind of worry these companies just have scripts they read from and don't actually look at your house until they're on the roof. My neighbor got suckered into one of those loans and now her electric bill is actually higher than before, oof. Feels like you gotta be your own detective with these sales guys.

Nah I gotta disagree a bit here. These sales guys are just doing their job, and some of them actually know their stuff if you ask the right questions. Yeah you get the script readers but that's every industry, not just solar. I'd rather deal with a guy who's honest about what he doesn't know than one who pretends he's a roofer too.
