That light bill spike after I switched to LED floodlights took me a minute to figure out

I swapped out six old floodlights around my house in Marietta for LEDs back in July thinking I'd save money. Next month my electric bill jumped $15 and I couldn't figure why until I realized the new lights were way brighter so I left them on all night. The old halogen ones burned out quicker so I never left them on that long. Anyone else accidentally run up their bill by upgrading?

Oh man I did the exact same thing with my garage lights. I put in those big LED shop lights and suddenly my garage was brighter than the sun so I just started leaving them on for hours working out there. What finally helped was putting them on a motion sensor switch. Cost me like 20 bucks at Home Depot and now they only kick on when I walk in. Cut my usage way down without me having to think about it.

Put one on my basement lights too, works perfect until the cat sets it off at 3am hunting bugs. Little trade off I guess but beats forgetting them on for days.
